VELLORE: Residents of Sathuvachari and Housing Board Phase II Residents Welfare Association jointly held a one-day fast demanding a flyover in their area in Vellore on Wednesday. During the protest, they alleged that the road near Sathuvachari is important to NH users and also to local residents, who bring their vehicles for registration to the nearby RTO. The local residents have to travel a kilometre to take a turn to go to the RTO. If a flyover is built at the Sathuvachari bus stop, vehicles passing through the NH could go above it and the local vehicles could use the underpass below the flyover to go to the RTO road, they added. Deputy president of Housing Board Phase II Residents Welfare Association, Thoppaswamy, secretary Veerabathiran, ward member Sekar and ex-councillor Shanmughasundharam aslo participated.
