While on one hand Madhya Pradesh is acting as power surplus state by supplying power to states like Delhi and Bihar, the people of state capital are forced to face unscheduled power cuts on regular basis.
The situation is no different in other parts of the state.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has recently tweeted that he was glad that Madhya Pradesh was supplying 100 MW power to Delhi in such scorching summer so that the residents of the national capital are served.
Besides, the power management company is selling 200 MW power to Bihar after ‘supplying sufficient power to all category of consumers’.
However residents of state capital are suffering power shortage in this ‘power surplus’ state.
The Central Region Power Distribution Company is imposing unscheduled power cuts for hours in different areas in the recent past.
However, officials of the distribution company are rejecting allegations of unscheduled power cuts on record.
Areas including Anand Nagar, Ayodhya Nagar, Nizamuddin colony, Govindpura, Karond, Subhash Colony, Patel Nagar and many others are facing these power cuts on regular basis. These areas register load shedding up to three four hours daily.
Besides, new Bhopal areas including Tulsi Nagar, Harshwardhan Nagar, Shivaji Nagar are also reporting frequent power cuts from two to three hours.
More often than not as the residents enquire about the power cuts, the power distribution company respond with similar reply that the technical snag had caused the disruption in the power supply.
Meanwhile the unscheduled power cuts are expected to hassle locals for some more days as monsoon is said to reach the state capital by June 20. Earlier the Regional Meteorological Centre had predicted arrival of rains by June 13.
Besides, unscheduled power cuts are quite common at villages and towns across the state amid scorching summer.
Barring divisional headquarters, the frequency of unscheduled load shedding has increased as the summer has intensified in the last month or so.
