CHENNAI: With a promise of taking the repressed Indian society back to the days of the Kamasutra, Rose Venkatesan, a transgender TV anchor, shared her vision for society as she got ready to launch her political outfit, the Sexual Liberation Party of India. “Sexual freedom is necessary for everybody. Sexuality is your basic right,” she said at a press meet held here on Wednesday. In all probability, a political party with a vision for sexual liberation and led by a transgender is the first of its kind in the country.“Our party believes in reservation for women and sexual minorities. We will advocate 5 per cent reservation for sexual minorities and 40 per cent for women,” said Rose, who wanted all the laws that infringe upon the sexual rights of the people to be amended. Moreover, the party is all for legalisation of sex work. She said sex workers will have a license. When that happens, there will be less exploitation,” says Rose.Condemning hetero-sexual marriages, she said the practice “enslaved people” and kept them from exploring their sexuality. “I personally think if people stop having children for the next 40 years or so, all the problems related to population explosion will be resolved,” said Rose.
