The buildings were constructed at a cost of Rs 118 crore, occupying 6.52 lakh square feet that can accommodate about 2,300 students.Speaking on the occasion, VIT chancellor G Viswanathan said that the hostels have been named after great leaders, Quaid-e-Millat Muhammed Ismail and Charles Darwin.
