CHENNAI: The Citizens Run Trust was launched to extend financial support to deserving NGOs who have been looking after children with a  social, economic, physical or intellectual disadvantage, as well as older men and women. To mobilise funds and to create awareness among  Chennai citizens, the Citizens Run Trust is organising the event every year since 1996. To commemorate its 13th year — Nokia, MIOT hospitals, Vastrakala Exports, Global Adjustments, Ford and Golden Homes have come together to offer their support. People from different milieu in Chennai will participate in this initiative to be a part of the cause. For those new to the concept, the aim of the run (approximately six kilometres)  is to gain awareness and support for small voluntary non-government organisations who are actively engaged in welfare work for those who need it.Anyone wishing to participate, either by walking or running a part of or the whole distance, may join at any point of the run route. The run is being organised on August 7 and this year, the beneficiaries will be: Bhumi, Children home of hope, PCVC and Sakya Hostel. The flag-off will take place at 3.30pm  from Lady Willingdon College on Marina Beach.(For further details, contact 9840743893)
