THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IT@School Project has developed a School Management System titled ‘Sampoorna’ to capture the entire details of students and staff in all schools in the state. ‘Sampoorna’ will be deployed in all high schools in the state, as part of the 100-day programme of the UDF Government.Details of as many as 60 lakh students from Standard 1 to 12 spanning over 15,000 schools in the state would be captured in this scheme. Such a mass system which is fully developed in Free Software is a first- of-its-kind in the country. The main objective of ‘Sampoorna’ school management software is to facilitate the Principals, Head Masters and teachers to easily implement, track and monitor all activities of students of their school and that of the school itself.Various cumbersome processes such as preparation of Transfer Certificate, copying of Admission Register, generating various reports related to students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff, generating lists for various scholarships, preparation of SSLC examination database, progress report preparation, promotion list preparation, entry forms for sports and games and also for Kalotsavams etc would be made easier using the online software.A time-table preparation software has also been integrated into the software. “Sampoorna has been visualised as a comprehensive mechanism to facilitate academic activities such as progress tracking and even determining the aptitude of a student right from when he/she is admitted to the 1st standard itself,” says K Anvar Sadath, Executive Director, IT@School Project. As part of the massive deployment of ‘Sampoorna’ in the schools in the State, the training for Head Masters and School IT-Coordinators has already been completed in all 14 districts. The Class Teachers have been instructed to crosscheck the students’ details entered in the data collection form with that of the information available in the Admission Register. Parents should also validate the information entered in these forms. From this year onwards, the student details available in ‘Sampoorna’ would be the source for preparing the SSLC certificates and the same would be used for Plus One admissions as well. ‘Sampoorna’ would also be integrated with the Unique Identtification Number (UID) scheme which is being implemented in the state.Director of Public Instruction, A Shajahan has instructed all high schools in the state to collect the details of the entire students of the school before August 31st 2011.The circular issued in this regard is available at the websites www.education.kerala.gov.in / www.itschool.gov.in
