Security has been beefed up across India to avoid any untoward incident in the wake of 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts convict Yakub Memon. The cyber cell is also keeping a close watch for any inflammatory messages in the online media.

While the jail authorities have agreed to hand over Yakub's body to his family, certain conditions have been set. The family has been asked to keep the burial a low-key affair and should complete the funeral in the stipulated time. More than 5000 police personnel have been deployed at the burial site.

Security has also been stepped up outside his residence in Mahim. No vehicles have been allowed inside the premises. Police have appealed to community leaders to ensure peace.

Police have also arrested people with criminal past as a preventive measure.

"All security arrangements in Maharashtra are in place. We are not expecting any law and order issue in the wake of the hanging. It is the law of the land that the government has to uphold. Additional forces wherever required have been put. The state government is in touch with the Centre," state Home Secretary KP Bakshi said.

Yakub Memon, the lone convict to be sentenced to death in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, was hanged to death in the Nagpur Central Prison on Thursday morning.
