BANGALORE: Describing as 'unfortunate' the showdown between Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, who agreed to a 'solemn oath' at Dharmasthala over the former's alleged bid to buy the latter's cooperation, Shivamurthy Swamiji of Murugha mutt said that the leaders should ensure that their faceoff will not divide two communities they belong to.
At a 'Guruvandana' programme organised at Kanakapura on Tuesday to felicitate Siddaganga mutt seer, the head of the Murugha mutt wished that the standoff between Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy would not be picked up by the communities belonging to the two leaders.Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur mutt, who also spoke on the occasion disapproved of the act of taking oath at a temple.

He advised both the leaders to go for 'introspection' on the issue before embarking upon the proposed testifying at Dharmasthala.

Centurion Shivakumara Swamiji also echoed the views of the two senior seers and advised both Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy not to drag the matter to religious places.

Meanwhile, Pejawar mutt seer Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji said in Mangalore that Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy should refrain from taking oath before Lord Manjunatha in Dharmasthala on June 27, as the truth test could misfire and turn into a curse.
