Jind: Scores of senior citizens today obstructed traffic at bus stand on Jind-Chandigarh road in Kandela village here protesting against the delay in payment of pensions.
The traffic on the road remained jammed for around two hours forming long queues of vehicles on both sides of the pathway, police said.
The demonstrators said that they had not received their pensions for the month of May.
They were forced to visit the village Sarpanch's house to inquire about the pension but the government has not sent it yet, they said.
Tehsildar Ramphal Singh with Sadar police station in-charge Sajjan Singh and other officers reached the spot and assured the senior citizens of resolving the issue by Monday, following which the demonstration ended and the traffic resumed on the road, they said.
