THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The shock wave created by the tremor in Idukki is yet to die out. Campaigns demanding reconstruction of Mullaperiyar dam have started from various quarters. The chain hunger strike organised by the Mullaperiyar Samara Samiti  entered the 1796th day on Monday. Mollywood is the latest to jump onto the bandwagon. Malayalam film industry is planning to create awareness among the people of the state about the need for replacing the 116-year-old dam. The industry is planning to carry a one-minute video at the beginning of every upcoming Malayalam film. Till the video is made, an awareness message will be screened. Kamal’s Swapnasanchari is the first film to act for the cause. V K Prakash’s latest flick Beautiful too will carry the message.Film director Aasiq Abu, torchbearer of the campaign, told Express: “We are not planning to rake up any dispute with Tamil Nadu. They need water and we need life. Both depend on this dam. As many as 12 tremors have happened in the area within a period of six months. Some solution must come up. We are planning to launch a campaign with the support of the entire media so that it could have an effect on the Union Government and even  the Supreme Court. We have talked with Film Employees Federation of Kerala and they have agreed to carry the message with the films,” he added.
