New Delhi: Acting tough on a defiant Uma Bharti and her supporters after their virtual rebellion against the party, the BJP on Tuesday issued show cause notices to her and 13 other MLAs and suspended six of her loyalists from the party, including former Union Minister Prahlad Patel.
Besides Patel, others suspended for "violent and unruly" incident outside the venue of the legislature party meeting held on Monday to elect Shivraj Singh Chouhan as its leader, were M S Yadav, Shailendra Sharma, Sudhir Agarwal, Shiv Shankar Pateriya and Saitan Singh Pal.
Announcing this at a press conference here, BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan said these leaders were being issued show cause notices asking them to explain as to why they should not be expelled from BJP.
Uma Bharti and 13 other MLAs, who boycotted Monday's legislature party meeting, were also served with show cause notices asking them to furnish their explanation within 72 hours for their action.
Three of the 14 MLAs have tendered an apology for their behaviour during the meeting and party's disciplinary committee would consider their case.
"BJP Parliamentary Board would meet in New Delhi on Wednesday and it would be apprised of Bharti's behaviour at the Legislature Party meeting as also her activities today," Mahajan said shortly after the Sanyasin leader declared herself as the "real BJP fighting to uphold its ideologies" and accused senior leaders of "imposing" Chouhan as Chief Minister.

The Parliamentary Board would examine the matter and take decision whether Bharti's behaviour should invite disciplinary action, Mahajan, who along with senior party colleagues Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh, had supervised the meeting as Central Observers, said.
On Bharti's padyatra to Ayodhya, Mahajan asked party workers not to participate in it as it doesn't have the high command's approval.
"Uttar Pradesh is now far away ... party workers in Madhya Pradesh should keep themselves away from the so-called padyatra," he said.
BJP flags should also not be used during the padyatra, he said.
Meanwhile, BJP Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in Chennai "action will be taken against those who indulged in indiscipline and went on a rampage in the premises of the party headquarters (at Bhopal)."
"If they have any grievance, it should be aired within the party forum. Incidents like the one that occurred is not the BJP's culture," he said.
To a question on indiscipline in the party, Naidu said "we are concerned over that."
