PUDUCHERRY: The state administration is set to undertake a survey on skill gap analysis in manpower and skill requirements across the industries in the Union Territory, said M Sathiyavathy, IAS, Chief Secretary to the government, on Tuesday.Addressing the trainees of the Indian Bank Self Employment Training Institute (INDSETI), she said the survey, which aims at identifying the industries and their requirements in manpower and skills at various levels, would be completed in three months.The chief secretary distributed certificates to 125 trainees who had completed the course to acquire skills in various trades like geriatric nursing, computer tally and DTP, beauty parlour management, embroidery and fabric paining, diary products and calf rearing, appalam making etc. INDSETI has so far organised 61 training courses covering 1453 candidates. Pondicherry Multipurpose Social Service Society (PMSSS) is one of the agencies involved in identifying the trades and extending training.Pointing out that training would enable them to find self-employment and self-development, Sathiyavathy asked the trainees to upgrade their skills and continue with the trade of their choice. Do something worthwhile and do not sit idle after receiving training, she told them.
