Sonia picks new team at CWC meet
No place yet for Rahul Gandhi in Congress' highest decision making body but most of the old faces have been retained.

New Delhi: Just days before the AICC session in Hyderabad and the impending cabinet reshuffle, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has a new team.

The political isolation of former external affairs minister Natwar Singh is complete. Singh has been dropped from the new Congress Working Committee (CWC) that was announced on Friday evening.

Young leaders like Rahul Gandhi have not been included in the party's top decision-making panel.

Most of the existing general secretaries have been retained.

Congress leaders Ambika Soni, B K Hariprasad, Mukul Vasnik, V Narayan Swamy and Ashok Gehlot will be general secretaries of the CWC.

Ambika Soni will also be the media spokesperson while Gehlot will be in charge of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The five general secretaries will be responsible for five different zones in the country. Congress leaders Manish Tiwari, Nirmal Khatri and Rajeev Shukla will be secretaries.

The executive committee of the Congress, typically consisting of fifteen members elected from the All India Congress Committee or AICC, is known as the Congress Working Committee.
