Sonia takes oath as LS member

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who won from the Rae Bareli constituency by a record margin of over four lakh votes, took oath as Lok Sabha member on Monday.

Amidst thumping desks by treasury beches, Sonia took her oath. She had quit office in March in the wake of the office of profit controversy.

Daughter Priyanka and son-in-law Robert Vadra were present in the visitor’s gallery.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of the House Pranab Mukherjee, other top Cabinet ministers, along with son and campaign manager, Rahul Gandhi were also present in the House.

Leader of the Opposition L K Advani, BJP leader V K Malhotra and other members of the Opposition greeted Sonia after she took oath.
