BANGALORE: In keeping with the new parameters of Central Pollution Control Board for analysing air quality, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) is now coming up with a sophisticated central laboratory in city.
All the equipment have been installed and training has been imparted to the staff for operating these new equipment. The laboratory will be functional by this week, said A S Sadashivaiah, Chairman, KSPCB. "Earlier we had the facility of measuring pollution level only in terms of suspended particulate matter (SPM). There was no full fledged infrastructure facility. Now even minute and fine dust particles which are about 2.5 microns in diameter can be monitored with the facility available at the central laboratory coming up at Thimmaiah Road. This has been taken up taking into consideration, the different toxic content of air that has been severely affecting the health of children and old alike mainly in the city limits," he explained.
