An Aina village, Bankura City, West Bengal native, Vishwarup Sur’s inspiring story has made it to the headlines and for all the right reasons. According to Local 18 Bengal, Vishwarup is handicapped and is differently abled with hands and a foot, yet can ride a bike. A video shows him easily starting a bike despite the handicap and riding on it. Vishwarup is also proficient in other activities which include chopping wood, playing cricket, catching a ball and singing songs sitting near a pond.
Vishwarup Sur is disabled by birth yet leaves no stone unturned to live every moment of his life. He lives with his mother, a 5-year-old son and a 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Other villagers have no complaints from Vishwarup since he is always singing and occupied with his work.
Vishwarup’s troubles don’t end here. His son is also physically disabled, not able to speak and sit as well. He requires Vishwarup’s help and is not able to live on his own. Due to this, the Bankura native has to help his son every time, despite facing difficulties in his personal life. A major portion of his life is now focused on helping his boy in every possible manner. He has a little sigh of relief as his daughter is not handicapped. Vishwarup said, that when the heart’s pain does not want to accept the obstacles when grief becomes unbearable, he sings near the pond.
Singing not only helps Vishwarup get over the unprecedented sadness in his life, but it also helps him get an additional source of income. He is going through extreme uncertainty considering the troubles clouding his son’s future. How will his specially-abled son get proper treatment and study? How will he be able to support himself in the future? Despite these questions troubling him day in and out, Vishwarup does not lose hope and finds a reason to be happy.
Vishwarup Sur finds comfort in playing cricket with the boys of his neighbourhood in the afternoon. Earlier, he used to earn his living by selling lotteries but has now stopped that work. Currently, he has to provide utmost concentration to his ailing child.
