New Delhi: The movie trailer for the latest Spider-Man film - 'The Amazing Spider-Man', leaked from Sony Studios on Tuesday, days before it was supposed to debut at the world’s largest comic book convention.
The movie marks the return of the web-shooting super hero after a gap of three years. The earlier movies had Toby Maguire in the role of Spider-Man. The new adaptation is to release in July 2012.
The new movie will feature a fresh cast and story. Instead of living with his aunt, the film narrates the story of a younger Peter adapting to life after being abandoned by his parents.
In this adaptation Peter Parker will be portrayed by Andrew Garfield, who starred in the 2010 film Social Network. Parker's love interest is Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone. The Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans, will take over as the movie’s villain.
Comic book writers and illustrators and fans got a peak at the leaked movie trailer and took to social networks to express that they were 'much intrigued' and some 'blown away' by the new version.
The official trailer will be released on Friday.
