THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The parcel services, scrap godowns and commercial establishments in the city must be combed by the Corporation and the government agencies in the wake of the massive fire at Aryasala and those without licences must be closed, the BJP in the City Corporation Council has demanded. In a press release here on Monday, the party said that action should be taken to prevent such mishaps from recurrence. According to BJP, many of the buildings do not own proper building permits or working licence. The godown of the LPG cylinders are working in a residential area, which raises concern. The party said that the small and medium hotels which operates gas burners (that work on LPG cylinders) without ISI marks and the wayside eateries that use non-ISI cylinders must be checked. Many hotels deviate from the approved building plan when the kitchens are constructed which also raises the danger possibilities.
