Take precautions during bull race

VELLORE: Chairing a consultative meet here on Friday to discuss the arrangements for the bull races being organised in 205 villages across the district, Collector S Nagarajan ordered officials to ensure that the events were held as per court directives.He asked officials, especially from the police department, to ensure the safety of both participants and animals. All racing venues must be inspected and precautionary measures should be adhered to, he told them. The collector also wanted officials from the animal husbandry department to appoint veterinarians to conduct health checks on bulls before and after the race. Traffic authorities were told to regulate vehicles at pedestrian crossings and cancel licences of rash drivers.SP Kayavizhi, DFO Manjunatha, Ranipet sub-collector Dr Jaganthaan and RDO Jayasree were present.
