Tax Evasion: Textile shop pulled up

KOCHI: The Kochi Corporation authorities on Friday attached dress materials from one of the leading textile showrooms in the City. Revenue officials from the Corporation said that the attachment procedure was initiated following a delay in responding to a demand notice served by the civic body.As per a recent assessment made by the Corporation, the textile shop has tax arrears to the tune of Rs 26 crore. “If the shop fails to pay the dues, the civic body will auction off the dress materials as part of revenue recovery measures,” said Mayor Tony Chammany.
