KOLLAM: Metropolitan Job Mar Philexinos, head of the Delhi diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, who passed away on Sunday, was laid to rest in a specially- constructed crypt at the Mount Tabor Dayara chapel, Pathanapuram, on Tuesday evening in an atmosphere filled with hymns and prayers.Hundreds of faithful of the Malankara Orthodox Church and people from various walks of life thronged at the chapel to offer their last respects to the late Metropolitan. Scores of students who were led to the world of literature and knowledge by the Metropolitan during his stint as a teacher in the St Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram, were also present.The funeral rites which began at 2 pm was led by Catholicos Baselios Mar Thoma Didymos 1, emeritus head of the Orthodox Church, and reigning Catholicos Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II.Metropolitans from various dioceses of the Orthodox Church and K N Balagopal MP were among those who attended the funeral.
