Weddings are often marked by lavish spending and grand celebrations. However, this IAS couple has set an example by opting for a simple marriage that cost just Rs 500. They chose to celebrate simplicity on their special day, setting a model for other couples to follow.
The power couple also returned to office two days after their marriage, setting an example for newly-weds who take leave for ten to fifteen days from office for their special ceremony.
IAS officers Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashisht tied the knot on November 2016. Their marriage was a private affair in which only close friends were invited. The wedding venue was at Additional District Magistrate Court in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind. Both their families were present during the ceremony.
The only cost incurred by the duo for the wedding was court fees, which was Rs 500, paid at the Additional Magistrate’s office in Bhind.
Ashish Vashisht hails from Alwar in Rajasthan while Saloni Sidhana is from Jalalabad in Punjab. Both are the first IAS officers in their respective families. While the couple has garnered a lot of attention after their marriage, they have chosen to stay away from social media and publicity.
Ashish Vashisht has graduated from IIT Roorkee and is currently serving as Additional District Magistrate, Bhopal. Saloni Sidana has an MBBS degree and was earlier a doctor. She is currently posted at Jabalpur. Saloni changed her cadre after marriage.
Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashisht, both 2014 batch IAS officers, fell in love when they had just got selected in the civil service examination and went on to Mussoorie for their IAS training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA).
