As a councillor, after my success in elections, there might be many people who are against me,” he said. Not stopping with small measures, another Congress councillor has installed CCTV cameras in his residence. “I recently installed CCTV cameras near the entrance. This will help me to identify visitors.”Some councillors are now looking at their stars and have sought astrologer’s help to secure them. “I have a family astrologer whom I trust and seek suggestion before commencing any work. When I approached our guruji, he adviced me to wear silver ring with a specific coloured stone and also conducted Mruthyunjaya Homa on a no moon day,” said a BJP councillor.According to a senior official from BBMP, at least 50 per cent of the councillors either have life threat or criminal record. “As many of them run real estate businesses, the threat to their lives is serious.”It can be recalled that early this year Janata Dal (S) councillor representing Banashankari Temple ward Mohammed Dewan Ali was killed in broad daylight, while Congress councillor from Gandhinagar S Nataraj was hacked to death in public view on October 1.
