New Delhi: Delhiites enjoyed a breathtaking show on Saturday night, with music composer and singer A R Rahman rendering an enchanting performance in his maiden public concert in the Capital.

Approximately 25,000 music lovers enjoyed the Fever 104 FM’s big ‘A R Rahman Concert’ at West Delhi District Centre Ground, Raja Garden.

Rahman began the performance with the foot tapping number Thodi si raat aur hai... from the movie Guru and managed to keep the audience captive under the magical spell of his voice.

With a brigade of musicians and singers including Chitra, Hariharan, Kailash Kher, rapper Blaze, Naresh Iyer and Kailash Kher, Rahman left no stone unturned to win the hearts of people of Delhi.

The music maestro left the audience swaying to the best of his Tamil, Hindi and English songs.

There was Chaiyya Chaiyya, Tu hi Re, Khalbali, Chanda Re, Roja, Bharat Humko, Maiyya Maiyya. Along with the fabulous tracks Rahman asked the enchanted crowd to join him in his fight against poverty.

He sang the soul touching number from his album Pray for me brother, leaving the audience stunned for a few minutes.

Rahman also gave a sneak peak into his upcoming movie soundtrack of Jodha Akbar starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.

The musical gala, which started an hour later than scheduled, had an orchestra of 50 instrumentalists and 22 singers.

But the marvelous show left some music lovers disappointed. And all they blamed it on the organisers and poor sound setup.

The music and sound track was good for the people who were sitting in front, but for those who were standing, it was a spoilsport.

“The sound setup was enough to rock the front viewers, but people who were at the back didn’t have speakers for them. Except the organisers’ part and the sound setup the show was rocking, “ says Sunny who came from Noida to watch the show.

Even Aditya was quite disappointed with the organisers and the arrangement made for the show.

“They did not put any rugs or carpet on the ground. The ground was not cleaned and there was dung lying around,” he says.
