After parting ways with the UPA, TRS is all set to intensify the movement for creation of a separate state.

Hyderabad: After parting ways with the Congress-led UPA on Telangana statehood issue, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is all set to intensify the movement for creation of a separate state.

The party would launch Palle Baata (village road), a mass contact programme from tomorrow to reach out to people of the region and build public opinion in favour of their demand of a separate state.

Party supremo and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would launch the programme at Telangana Bhavan, the TRS headquarters.

The mass contact programme would help strengthen the party's village units ahead of the by-election to Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, party spokesman Prakash said.

The by-election was necessitated with Rao quitting his Lok Sabha membership in the wake of challenge by the state Congress leaders for him to seek fresh mandate from the people.

Rao, along with his deputy A Narendra, had quit the UPA Government in August following their failure to extract any assurance from the Centre on Telangana issue.

After pulling out of the UPA coalition, the TRS had made it clear that it would step up the agitation in support of the demand for separate Telangana state.
