Two Bangladeshi women get 10-year jail for child-trafficking
A local court on Monday awarded 10 years imprisonment to two Bangladeshi women for abducting and attempting to push a minor girl into flesh trade.

A local court on Monday awarded 10 years imprisonment to two Bangladeshi women for abducting and attempting to push a minor girl into flesh trade.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 each, on the duo Rohima Khatoun (60) and Mariam (30).

The sentence was awarded by Additional Sessions Judge Priyadarshan Sharma, who pronounced the two guilty on charges of abduction and child-trafficking, among others.

According to prosecution, Khatoun and Mariam abducted a 15-year-old girl in January this year from MIG area here and later tried to take her to Mumbai by Avantika Express. When the train left Indore, the teenager narrated her ordeal to fellow passengers, who alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP). When the train reached Ratlam, GRP took the girl into their custody and arrested the two women, the prosecution said, adding investigations revealed Khatoun and Mariam wanted to force the minor girl into flesh trade.
