London: After a shocking exit of four drivers due to string of tyre failures at Silverstone, Ferrari driver Felipe Massa said this types of incidents are "unacceptable".

Britain's Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 world champion who had led for Mercedes from pole position, was the first casualty when his rear tyre blew after eight laps.

Hamilton was followed by Massa, Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne and then McLaren's Sergio Perez. Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez had a front tyre failure.

Massa, who finished sixth in the race, also said that the incidents were dangerous for all of the drivers on the grid.
