THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the Neyyatinkara campaign reaching its final stages, the leaders of all the three political parties have made  a beeline to the constituency. CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan  on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the UDF Government.Inaugurating the LDF area election rally at Neyyatinkara, Vijayan alleged that the UDF was politicising the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrashekaran. The UDF, which lost its face in the fifth minister row, deliberately made the Chandrashekaran murder a poll issue to avoid the real issues of the people. “If one evaluates the political situation before May 4, it was clearly against the UDF. The Congress-led UDF is politicising the RMP leader’s murder to win the bypoll, which will never happen,” he said.He also alleged that the UDF Government was purposely delaying the hearing of Krishnadas murder case against the backdrop of the Neyyatinkara bypoll."Why should one go to Onchiyam, when there is a murder of an old man named Krishnadas committed by a Congress leader in Neyyatinkara. He was kicked by the Congress leader, which resulted in his death. The Congress tried to pressurise witness Fr Jerald Mathyas and later, he was threatened using goons. All this happened during the tenure of Oommen Chandy Government. The goons even attacked the Bishop House here,” Pinarayi alleged. He said that the UDF Government purposely delayed the hearing of the case owing to the bypoll. “They want to postpone the case after June 2, the polling day. For this the police did not produce the material in the court, which usually does not happen in any case,” he said.Coming down heavily on the UPA Government at the Centre, Pinarayi said that the Central Government was acting against the interests of the people and the nation to protect the interest of the corporates.“After the oil companies were given the right to hike the prices in June 2010, as many as 14 times the petrol prices were hiked,” he said. The Congress was engulfed  in corruption and it was the main culprit in the recent scams. “The Congress-led government has made the life of the common man miserable,” he said.
