UP Minister rakes up controversy, says rapes happen when there's mutual consent
Tota Ram claimed rapes happen when there's mutual consent.

Lucknow: While crime against women especially sexual assaults have seen massive protests and demand for strictest punishment to the perpetrators, politicians continue to make fun of such heinous crimes.

Joining the long list of leaders making insensitive comments is UP Processing and Construction Cooperative Federation Ltd (PACCFED) Chairman Tota Ram Yadav. Tota Ram claimed rapes happen when there's mutual consent. "Women mutually agree to get raped," he said on Saturday.

Making insensitive statements is nothing new for UP ministers. Earlier, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had sparked a controversy by making a shocking statement on rapists.

Mulayam sparked national outrage by making a sexist and unforgivably cringe worthy comment "ladke, ladke hain... galti ho jati hai."
