SALEM: The City Police Special Cell for Land Grabbing case has booked cases against A Raja, former MLA, and the son of former minister for agriculture Veerapandi S Arumugam. His associate, Thangavel was also booked.According to the police sources, the complainant Muthukumar of Periya Kollapatti has alleged that Raja and Thangavel had fudged documents claiming right over his three acre land at Jakhir Ammapalayam and occupied the land.A representation had already been made by Muthukumar on October 25, 2010 and later on December 1, 2010. However, the complaint was put on the backburner. When the Special Cells for land grabbing cases were formed recently, Muthukumar forwarded fresh complaints to the District Collector of Salem and to the DGP Chennai. The complaints were in turn directed for action to the City Police Special Cell. A team headed by inspector Srinivasan of the Central Crime Branch investigated the complaint and booked cases against Raja and Thangavel under sections 420 cheating, 387 threatening and 441 trespass and illegal occupation.
