VELLORE: One person died and 18 others were injured in the Erudhu Vidum Vizha organised across the district on Tuesday.The organisers, who conducted the programme without the permission from the district administration, were arrested. Raja (25) of Moonjurpet died after a bull owned by Gopal (60) of the same village charged at him. Earlier, RDO Jayashree and revenue officials had been to the area to warn race organisers not to conduct the event without permission from the administration.Besides the bull’s owner, programme organisers Venkatesan (41), Sekar (55) and Sagadevan (36) were also arrested following the accident. The police is on the lookout for other organisers who were a part of the event.Erudhu Vidum Vizha was organised in several villages near Tirupattur including Shozhavaram, Moonjurpet and Latheri. The district administration had permitted 205 villages in the district to conduct the event.It is also reported that 17 persons in Latheri and one person in Keezhmutukur were injured in the Vizha conducted in their respective villages. They were taken to nearby private hospitals, PHCs and Vellore GH for treatment.Twenty more persons are said to have received minor injuries at events held across the district.
