New Delhi: The hearing of the bail application of Vikas Yadav, the main accused in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case, was adjourned till December 18 by the Delhi High Court on Thursday.

Vikas in his bail application stated that as the deposition of his sister Bharti Yadav, a key witness in the case, had been completed, therefore he should be granted bail now.

Vikas’s bail application was earlier rejected by the Supreme Court on December 1 in view of Bharti’s deposition. The apex court had permitted the filing of a fresh bail application.

Vikas and Vishal Yadav (cousin of Bharti) are facing trial in the case for allegedly kidnapping and murdering Nitish Katara on the intervening night of February 16-17, 2002, from Ghaziabad where Nitish had gone to attend a marriage party.

Vikas is also one of the main accused in the 1999 Jessica Lall murder case. He was out on bail in that case when he allegedly killed Nitish Katara.
