Water released from dams in Karnataka was expected to reach Mettur by Tuesday night.
Sources said that so far, Karnataka has released 4,916 cusecs from the KRS dam and another 5,000 cusecs from the Kabini.
Meanwhile, thanks to significant rainfall in the catchments, the inflow into the Mettur dam shot up by 1,000 cusecs on Monday.
The level at Mettur stood at 73.25 ft as against the full level of 120 ft. The discharge for the Cauvery delta for irrigation was recorded as 13,709 cusecs.
Buses from K’taka Ply As Usual
Meanwhile, although buses from Mettur to Karnataka have been cancelled in the wake of protests against the release of Cauvery water in the neighbouring State, services from Karnataka arrived and departed from here without any hindrance on Monday.
Given the fact that buses from TN stood cancelled over the last two days, buses from Karnataka were filled to capacity.
A tense situation prevailing along the border, especially in places like Chamrajnagar and Mandya in Karnataka, prompted the cancellation of services originating from TN.
Fourteen buses from Mettur to various destinations in Karnataka, including MM Hills, Kollegal and Chamrajnagar, were cancelled for the second day on Monday. Even private buses did not operate to Karnataka.
This forced the passengers, including the pilgrims bound for M M Hills, to take vans and lorries to their destinations in Karnataka.
