Women block police vehicles

KANHANGAD: About 200 women blocked the police vehicles in Kolayaval on Thursday morning in protest against the arrest of some youths including students following the Kanhangad disturbances.The housewives said the police vehicles would not be allowed to pass unless they took action against the police personnel who chased a 14-year-old boy who had jump into the river to save himself from the police.The  siege was withdrawn following assurance that the police would let off the those were not involved. A protester said the police had let off the IUML activists after direction from the higher-ups.   Though the town had returned to peace on Wednesday, fresh violence broke out in Kolayaval and Chithari .
