The Kerala police department has honoured and given cash rewards to women police officers who arrested Hindu Aikya Vedi state president K P Sasikala in Marakkuttam recently. The police personnel have also been awarded Good Service Entry, news agency ANI reported.

Sasikala was on her way to Sabarimala on November 17 when she was held by police and arrested at around 1.30 am. She had reportedly told the police that she wanted to visit the temple as she was a devotee and was above 50 years of age, but the policewomen suspected that the prime reason for her visit was to organise protests.

Responding to the news of cash rewards, the Hindu outfit leader said she appreciates the gesture as the cops deployed at Sabarimala remain on duty for long hours without the availability of even the most basic facilities.
