Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inaugurated the 2024-25 academic session for the Atal Awasiya (Residential) Vidhyalaya (AVS) Schools across the state at the AVS in Mohanlalganj, Lucknow. However, the simple inauguration ceremony took a delighted turn when CM Yogi took over as a ‘Guru’.
Not only that, the CM reviewed the students’ projects, looked through their notebooks, interacted with them and also imparted valuable lessons of life and shared his success mantra, making the day all the more memorable for the students.
Besides, CM Yogi also announced a phase-wise plan to expand the schools, aiming to increase their number to 2,000.
It all began with the arrival of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at AVS, located at Sitholi Kala in Mohanlalganj, Lucknow to inaugurate the second academic session of AVS. However, during the inauguration ceremony, CM Yogi, who chose to spend some quality time with the students, headed straight to the classrooms, where he received a grand welcome from the students.
“Are you experiencing some difference in the kind of education did you all get earlier and what you are getting now,” CM Yogi Adityanath asked the students soon after stepping into the classroom. The excited students didn’t take long to respond to the CM’s question, saying, “Sir, Smart Classes. Now we are getting an opportunity to study in smart classrooms.”
However, during interaction with the UP CM, whom the students regarded as their ‘Guru’, they also asked him a question. “Recently, we participated in the Independence Day parade in Lucknow. Can we also go to witness the I-Day parade in Delhi,” a student asked CM Yogi to which he replied, “Yes, why not, you can surely visit the parade.”
Soon after, another student eagerly asked, “Sir, what made you think of establishing Atal Awasiya Vidhyalaya in the state?” In response to his question, the CM said that “it came to our mind that workers are constantly on the move, they do not have enough money to impart good education to their children. It would be better if we can make certain arrangements for their children. Also, we thought that there should be some arrangements for the children who lost their parents during Covid phase. We had a word with PM Modi ji and built a school keeping in mind the memories of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji,” said CM Yogi.
However, even before he could finish addressing the question, another student eagerly asked, “Sir, when you used to study in school, did you also get scolded by teachers for making mistakes?” The question brought a broad smile to CM Yogi Adityanath’s face. He chose to respond like a true ‘Guru,’ advising the students, “If a mistake is committed unknowingly, the person isn’t to be blamed, and there’s always room for improvement. But if mistakes are repeated over and over, it shows a habit, and that person needs correction. Such things naturally happen in a child’s life, but if you work hard and stay on the right path, good results will surely follow.”
His answer encouraged the students, focusing on the importance of learning from mistakes, while also emphasising persistence and effort in achieving success.
Another student stood up, thanked CM Yogi for the facilities at AVS, and asked if he had a similar educational opportunity during his school days. CM Yogi responded, “AVS is Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s brainchild, established for students like you. It’s the public’s money — if it falls into the wrong hands, it’s misused, but when used properly, it builds such great schools.”
The question answer session was followed by a picture session where CM Yogi also took a selfie with all the children. Prior to this, CM Yogi also took stock of the innovative models made by the students. Devices like smart dustbin, smart blind stick, automatic street light, obstacle avoiding robot, computer model, calligraphy and art and craft were presented at this exhibition, seeing which CM Yogi praised the students. A girl also drew a picture of CM Yogi, on which CM Yogi gave his signature.
During the inauguration ceremony, UP CM also announced the phase-wise plan to expand the schools, aiming to increase their number to 2,000. In his address, UP CM said that in the second phase, 57 similar schools will be set up as composite schools across various districts, whereas the third phase will extend this initiative to all 350 tehsils of UP. “In the fourth phase, such schools will be set up in 825 development blocks, and by the fifth phase, they will reach the Nyaya Panchayat level,” he added.
CM Yogi Adityanath explained that scarcity arises from poverty, idleness, anarchy, corruption, and division. Where corruption and anarchy prevail, discord and lawlessness follow. He emphasised that when society lacks proper leadership, illiteracy spreads, resulting in widespread poverty, hunger, and deprivation. The CM highlighted that a civilised and capable society can only be built by educating its people, stressing that Atal Residential Schools should become a benchmark for quality education.
He stated, “Every child, regardless of caste, appearance, region, or language, should have equal access to the country’s resources.” To ensure this right, Atal Residential Schools have been established as a model of inclusive education, providing equal opportunities for all students to thrive. CM also launched an attack on the opposition, stating that the people who incite caste-based conflicts and fuel social discord in the name of social justice cannot understand poverty.
