BANGALORE: “Yeddyurappa destroyed not only himself but also the dreams and aspirations of thousands of party workers and admirers,” former BJP president B B Shivappa curtly responded, when questioned about the arrest of former CM B S Yeddyurappa. Shivappa said Yeddyurappa ought to have realised that he became a leader and chief minister on account of the blood and sweat of thousands of RSS, Jan Sangh and BJP workers who toiled for several decades. “It is most unfortunate, rather outrageous, that he was oblivious to the organisation and ideology which made him a mass leader,” he added. According to Shivappa, Yeddyurappa’s biggest blunder was to have depended on his family members. “He (Yeddyurappa) proved himself to be the Chanakya of state politics when he check-mated a yet another shrewd politician H D Deve Gowda. But he forgot another Chanakya Neeti that he should keep away his family members from the matters of day-to-day administration. Instead, he ought to have listened to the sane and sober advice of elders in the party in matters of governance,” Shivappa said. Supporters to Offer Succour to BSY Shocked by Yeddyurappa’s arrest, his supporters within the BJP have decided to stand firmly behind him during his hour of crisis. All ministers and legislators who have identified themselves with Yeddyurappa will be meeting here on Sunday to decided their future course of action. Most of the legislators and ministers have gone to their constituencies as it was a Saturday. A minister who refused to be identified, told Express: “We have asked them to return to Bangalore immediately. We will meet tomorrow to express solidarity with Yeddyurappa.”
