A detailed report of the contents inside the mandir will be submitted to the government later. The doors of Yajurveda Mandir, which were closed on April 4 after Sai Baba was hospitalised on March 27, were only opened on June 16. After a marathon inventory taking, it was found that the mandir stored an impressive amount of wealth. In the press statement released afterwards, Satya Sai Central Trust revealed that the mandir contained Rs 11.56 crore of cash, 98 kg of gold and 307 kg of silver. However, it was later found that the mandir contained more valuables. Following controversies surrounding the cash (`35 lakh) seized from two persons at Kodikonda checkpost on June 18, the government directed the district administration to inspect the mandir. The inspections were led by joint collector Anita Ramachandran. During the inspection, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 78 lakh along with a diamond ring was found in the room attached to the Sai Baba’s personal chamber in the mandir. All these treasures, like before, were deposited with the State Bank of India. At that time, it was said that further inspections were likely to take place after Guru Poornima when the Mahasamadhi of Sai Baba was unveiled.According to sources, there are twelve rooms in Yajurveda mandir and only eight of them have been searched so far. The remaining four were locked with biometric locks and could be only opened using the fingerprint of the baba’s personal caretaker Satyajit. Meanwhile, the government had asked the Sai Trust to submit a report on its activities and transactions in the last five years. The Trust submitted the report to the principal secretary (endowments) K V Ramanachary on July 11. Three senior officials have been entrusted the task of studying the reports.
