KOCHI: The Yogakshema Sabha has decided to organise a three-day pilgrimage to Kalady from April 24 in connection with the celebration of Advaitha Acharya Adi Sankaracharya’s birth anniversary which falls on April 26, Panchami thithi of the Vaisakha month.The pilgrimage will start from different places across the state on April 24, 25 and 26 to Kalady, the birthplace of Sankaracharya.The Sabha’s state committee, which held a meeting the other day at Guruvayur, has demanded the installation of a statue of Adi Sankaracharya in the state capital and the establishment of a research centre named after him.The Sabha has demanded that an academic working in the Sanskrit education sector should be included in the State Curriculum Committee. Sanskrit language should be made part of the syllabus from Standard I as part of implementing the Right to Education Act, the Sabha has appealed to the state government.The state committee meeting was presided over by Yogakshema Sabha state president Akkeeraman Kalidasan Bhattathirippad.
