Manu Bhaker clinched a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Final on Sunday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled Manu Bhaker and congratulated her on winning India’s first medal in Paris Olympics 2024. “You have made your country proud,” PM Modi said. Bhaker clinched a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Final on Sunday.

Earlier, taking to microblogging site X, the prime minister called Manu’s victory an “incredible achievement”. “A historic medal! Well done, @realmanubhaker, for winning India’s FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats on the Bronze. This success is even more special as she became the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement!” PM Modi said.

I Dedicate This Win To My Country: Manu Bhaker

“Winning this medal is a dream come true, not just for me but for everyone who has supported me. I am deeply grateful to the NRAI, SAI, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Coach Jaspal Rana sir, Haryana government and OGQ. I dedicate this victory to my country for their incredible support and love,” Manu Bhaker wrote in an X post.

She also expressed gratitude to the government for all the “support and encouragement” and thanked PM Modi for his “blessings”.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed Manu Bhaker saying “nation swells in pride at your achievement”. “Kudos to @realmanubhaker on winning the first medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, by bringing home the bronze. You have sent a wave of euphoria across the nation with your stellar performance. The nation swells in pride at your achievement,” Shah wrote in an X post.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Manu Bhaker’s victory “has brought immense pride to our nation”.

“Congratulations to @realmanubhaker for her exceptional performance and winning the Bronze Medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her victory has brought immense pride to our nation. I wish her the very best for her endeavours ahead,” Singh said.

Minister Of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari said, “Congratulations to @realmanubhaker for securing India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024! Your remarkable performance and dedication in the 10-meter air pistol event have earned you a well-deserved bronze. India is proud of your achievement. Here’s to many more victories!”

Celebrations At Manu Bhaker’s House In Haryana

Celebrations have begun at the residence of Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker in Haryana.

Manu’s father, Ram Kishan Bhaker said, “The entire country is proud of Manu, two of her events are remaining we expect her to perform better. Manu got a lot of support from the government and the federation. She could achieve this only because of the blessings of the people of the country. This is a huge achievement.”

The Shooter’s aunt, Nirmala Devi said, “We were expecting a gold medal, but this is not a small achievement. We are hopeful that she will win gold in the next two events.”

With her bronze, 22-year-old Bhaker broke India’s 12-year Olympic medal drought in Shooting, and also became the first female shooter to win a medal in the same event for India.
