Ingredients:

  1. Amla: 500 gm

    Jaggery/Gur powder: 500 gm

    Desi ghee: 100 gm

    Spice mix powder

    Saffron

    For the spice mix powder:

    1. 3 bay leaves

      1 small cinnamon stick

      1 teaspoon cumin seeds

      1 teaspoon fennel

      2 teaspoons dry ginger powder

      3-4 long black peppercorns

      5 cloves

      6-7 black peppercorns

      1/2 piece nutmeg (powdered)

      6-7 pieces green cardamom

      2 black long cardamom seeds

      Preparation:

      – Roast all the dry spices, grind them finely and make them into a powder. Now filter the spices through a sieve.

      – Wash the gooseberry and steam it for 10 minutes. You can also cook it in a pressure cooker till 1 whistle. Let the gooseberry cool and then remove the seeds.

-Now grind it finely. Now heat ghee in a pan and add the mashed amla to it. Cook the amla paste for a few minutes, this will gradually thicken the mixture. Now add chopped jaggery. Mix everything well and cook for about 10 minutes.

-Now add the spice mix powder and cook it until the mixture becomes a little sticky. You will see that the paste will start to come off the sides of the pan after a short while.

-Now add the saffron, stir and switch off the flame. Your Chyawanprash is ready. Once it cools down completely, transfer it to a glass jar and you can use it for a year.

“Chyawanprash helps in the elimination of toxins from the body and promotes heart health by lowering cholesterol levels.
