Fenugreek To Raisins, Ayurveda Expert Suggests Foods That Help Against Osteoarthritis
If left untreated, osteoarthritis can lead to significant difficulties in walking normally.

It has become increasingly common to hear complaints of knee pain, particularly during activities such as climbing, among people, including the younger population. Many individuals also report experiencing a cracking sound in their bones while extending their limbs or walking. These sounds could be indicative of weak bones or arthritis, specifically a condition known as osteoarthritis. Arthritis involves the swelling and tenderness of one or more joints and requires prompt attention to prevent future mobility issues.

If left untreated, osteoarthritis can lead to significant difficulties in walking normally. Ayurvedic specialist VK Pandey shared insights with News 18 Hindi on dietary measures individuals can adopt to prevent or alleviate this problem:

Fenugreek Seeds:

Fenugreek seeds, also known as methi seeds, are highly beneficial in treating osteoarthritis. Soak the required amount of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Consume these soaked seeds and drink the water in the morning.

White Sesame Seeds:

White sesame seeds are rich in calcium, making them an excellent remedy for bone ailments. Create a laddu by mixing white sesame seeds with jaggery and consume it daily for bone health.

Dry Ginger:

Dry ginger contains essential nutrients that contribute to bone strength. Before bedtime, mix one-fourth spoonful of dry ginger powder in a glass of warm milk. Add some jaggery to the solution and drink it.

Dates and Raisins:

Before sleeping, soak four dates and a handful of raisins in one glass of warm milk for half an hour. Consume the milk along with the soaked dates and raisins.

He also highlighted that standing still for prolonged periods is a significant factor contributing to the reduction of grease in the bones. Additionally, habits like drinking water while standing or engaging in extended morning walks may contribute to the problem. He emphasised the role of diet, stating that consuming excessive junk food since childhood and lacking a protein-rich diet could contribute to the development of osteoarthritis.

These dietary recommendations and lifestyle modifications can play a crucial role in preventing and managing osteoarthritis, allowing individuals to maintain optimal joint health.
