It becomes a memorable sight when a fan from across the border (Pakistan) ends up saying ‘Namaste’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ to greet one of the most influential poets of this era; Dr. Kumar Vishwas. As much as we say creativity knows no barriers, such incidents just reinforce our faith in the power of words, the power of languages and the power of humanity.
At a recent event 'Jashn-e-Rekhta’ where various known names from the Urdu world were focusing on bringing back the culture and the powerful language; it was just amazing to see how people from not just other states but various other countries including Pakistan, China, Nepal, Singapore and Dubai visited the capital just to experience the magic of Urdu language.
Out of the many events that ended up making the audience go crazy with applauds and hoots; one was when Dr. Kumar Vishwas addressed the audience on the topic ‘Koi Khwab Dekh Dalo: Nayi Nasl Aur Shayari’ that witnessed the inner poet of this spontaneous man. For a long time now, we had been missing the poet inside him that got tangled with the hackles of politics and government issues until today.
Laughter, chuckles and everything positive emerged as the man took over the stage with his famous couplet about the dual languages Hindi and Urdu,
“Ye Urdu bazm hai aur main to hindi maa ka jaya hoon,
zabaanein mulk ki behnein hain, ye paigaam laaya hoon!
Mujhe dugni mohabbat se suno Urdu zabaan waalon,
main apni maa ka beta hoon; main ghar mausi ke aaya hoon”.

And no that wasn’t it; but that was just the beginning of what turned out to be one of the many full-house events of ‘Jashn-e-Rekhta’ (for the things he said and for the things he sang). Apart from the various intellectual and political sayings that he offered the audience, he managed to leave everybody in splits with these quick-witted one liners that perfectly described the current state of our country.
