The onset of monsoon after the scorching hot summer is a great relief to all living beings. However, with respite come various infections as part and parcel of the rainy season. Skin infections are the most common illness that affects human beings during monsoons. Let’s take a look at some of the precautionary measures to keep skin infections under control!

Personal Hygiene

Being hygienic is important, especially in the rainy season. Try to take a warm shower if you got drenched while commuting or rinse your feet thoroughly in Epsom salt and water. Avoid sharing towels, handkerchiefs, combs etc as skin infections are contagious. And not to forget, keep your linens and laundry clean.

Eat Healthy

Eat seasonal fruits to boost the immune system. Include apples, mangoes, litchis, pomegranates as they are rich in essentials vitamins. Foods rich in vitamin D should also be included in our diet as the sunlight is comparatively less during this season. Avoid oily and fried foods as well as sugar-rich foods as fungus thrives on sugar. Stay hydrated, drinking clean water allows flush off toxins from our body. Make fruity squashes with herbal teas instead of tea/coffee.

Wear Loose Fitting Clothes

Avoid tight and synthetic clothing. Loose fitting cotton clothes are the best during this season as Cotton allows your skin to breathe. Avoid wearing wet socks and undergarments as skin infections are more prone in the folds of the skin, space between toes etc.

Stay Dry

Keep your body dry as much as you can. Avoid wet clothes as bacteria breeds in a wet environment.Drying clothes under the sun is another useful hack. Using disposable wipes instead of towels is helpful as sweat drenched towels are superficially dry and sinfully infection-inducing.

Avoid Public Pools

Water parks and pools should be avoided. If not, then do not ditch a hot-water shower or home-spa once you are back from the rain-dance or pool-party. Children should not be allowed to play in the muddy water or the dirty environment as they are prone to sickness.

Follow these ground rules and enjoy the beautiful monsoons to the fullest!
