Clothes are better than repellent sprays and creams as they keep the mosquitoes away from you. It is a little known fact that mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors. Dark colours, especially black and blues, attract mosquitoes so it is better to wear light-coloured clothing.

Another way to protect yourself from mosquito bites is to wear clothes that will not leave your skin exposed. Replacing your half sleeve shirts with the full sleeves and shorts with pants will keep the mosquitoes at bay. You may try loosely-fitted clothes as it will allow you to deal with the heat better than tight-fitted ones.

Apart from clothing, your selection of footwear is also important. Mosquito make a beeline for feet and ankles, where people are less likely to notice mosquito bites. So, it is advisable to wear shoes with socks.

Try to keep your body covered as much as possible when you step out.

Mosquitoes carry viruses which cause serious diseases like dengue. The primary symptoms of dengue appears three to 15 days after being bitten by a mosquito. High fever, severe headache, joint pain, muscle and bone pain, and rashes are prominent symptoms of dengue.

Currently, there is no definite vaccine available for dengue.
