Zoë Kravitz has made her foray into direction with her upcoming twisted thriller Blink Twice. Featuring boyfriend Channing Tatum in the lead, the film follows the story of an exotic private island trip gone wrong. Blink Twice is Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut. She has films like Batman, Big Little Lies, Divergent, and High Fidelity to her name. The trailer of the yet-to-be-released film was dropped by Amazon MGM Studios recently, grabbing the eyeballs of the masses for its suspenseful premise. Previously titled Pussy Island, Blink Twice is slated to hit the big screens on August 23.
The trailer begins with a rugged-looking Channing saying, “Everybody’s dead" and soon after, the visuals of a burning house are shown. “How about we start at the beginning?" he suggests, taking the audience back to where it all started. The narration follows Frida (Naomie Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) getting swept over their feet by the charming Slater King (Channing Tatum) aka a tech billionaire. His friends are introduced one by one, however, their personalities are depicted to be slightly bordered on oddity. Slater King invites Frida and Jess to his private island for a weekend getaway which they agree wholeheartedly.
The steamy vacation comes with a luxurious stay, delicious food and a group of strangers coming together for a fun escapade. In one scene Jess jokingly asks Frida, “So do you think the human sacrifice is before or after dinner?" and viewers get an inkling that things are about to get awry. After the guests’ phones are taken away starts a series of events where the men show up with random bruises, and misplaced personal items, and everyone tends to forget everything. There are glimpses of maniac episodes, bloodshed and an eerie feeling throughout that something is wrong. It is now up to Frida and Jess to escape from the hellhole if they truly want to live.
Blink Twice also stars Haley Joel Osment, Kyle MacLachlan, Geena Davis, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Liz Caribel, Christian Slater, and Simon Rex in important roles. Besides Zoe Kravitz, the film is also produced by Garret Levitz, Bruce Cohen, and Tiffany Persons with Jordan Harkins and Stacy Perskie serving as executive producers.
