Imtiaz Ali's much-loved film Love Aaj Kal, the original, turned 11 on July 31. Leading lady Deepika Padukone celebrated with throwback behind-the-scenes picture. The photo showed Deepika and director Imtiaz looking at each other, on board the Delhi Metro.
The photo seems to have been taken during the shoot of the song Chor Bazaari. Deepika captioned the photo, "The eyes say it all... #Meera #11YearsOfLoveAajKal @imtiazaliofficial @maddockfilms @erosnow." Alia Bhatt commented on her post and said "Best people" with a kiss emoji.
Eros Now, the production house that backed the 2009 film starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Giselli Monteiro in the lead roles, shared multiple posts to mark 11 years of the film.
Love Aaj Kal starred Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles as a modern couple who valued independence and career over a relationship. But they later realise their feelings for each other run deeper than they think. The film became Imtiaz's most popular project after Jab We Met, as the audience lapped up the story and loved the music by Pritam.
Imtiaz tried to recreate the magic of Love Aaj Kal by making another film with the same name and similar theme 10 years later. The new film, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, released in February 2020.
