Did Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Try Silencing Artistes By Returning Publishing Rights? Former Rapper Says This
In September 2023, Sean 'Diddy' Combs returned the music rights to all his Bad Boys artists, leaving everyone shocked.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is facing a series of legal challenges that show no signs of abating. Starting with a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, he is now grappling with allegations of sexual assault and running a “criminal enterprise.” To compound his troubles, another accusation has emerged — former rapper Mark Curry, who previously worked with Diddy in his Bad Boy Records, has alleged that the rapper bought the silence of celebrities before his arrest.

Joining the Daily Mail podcast, The Trial of Diddy, Mark Curry shared his insights on what went wrong in the case that led to Diddy’s arrest. He alleged that the rap mogul returned all the publishing rights to the artists in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to ensure their silence about him.

“I think he had some kind of idea that this was coming down the pipeline. He tried to cover his tracks quickly—but it didn’t work,” Curry added.

For those unaware, Bad Boy Records had always owned the publishing rights to its artists’ music. However, it was only recently that the company relinquished these rights to the respective musicians, just a month before Diddy was hit with a severe lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend.

During the conversation, the former rapper also discussed whether he signed the same NDA in exchange for his rights, to which Curry replied, “He can’t tell me not to do anything because we had a contract when we first got into business, and it stated that he was going to help me further my career. That didn’t work. So now, any other contract that he has for me, I’m avoiding it too.”

Reflecting on regaining his publishing rights, he said, “I felt like he gave me back a woman I used to love, who he abused and raped, took advantage of, and then returned to me. I used to love her. That’s how I felt about it. I used to love her. Then he did that. As soon as I got it back, I got rid of it in the same stroke—I don’t want it.”

According to Curry, he last spoke to the rapper in September 2023, just before Cassie Ventura filed the lawsuit.
