Leaving a permanent void in the Hindi film industry, Satish Kaushik passed away on March 9 last year. In his career spanning decades, the actor won the hearts of the audience with his stellar performances. He was honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award for the 2021 comedy-drama Kaagaz, which Satish Kaushik also directed. Now, fans are once again gripped by emotions as the film’s sequel Kaagaz 2 is set to premiere theatrically on March 1. The trailer for the upcoming film was released on February 9. Anil Kapoor who shared a close camaraderie with Satish Kaushik dropped the trailer on social media, penning a heartwarming post in memory of his late friend.
“This film is extra special…my very dear friend’s last film…I feel lucky to see him perform one last time. Yeh sirf mudda nahi, yeh har aadmi ke emotions hai,” wrote Anil Kapoor on Instagram. Kaagaz 2’s trailer revolves around how political rallies and campaigns often result in traffic jams and blocked roads, causing inconvenience to commuters. Satish Kaushik as a father faces a similar but more severe circumstance when his daughter falls off a table from her losing her balance. Although he desperately tries to take her to the hospital, a political rally causes hindrance leading to the death of his daughter. What follows is a court trial and a fight for justice.

Anupam Kher, who will essay the character of a lawyer in Kaagaz 2, also took to social media to re-share the film’s poster and trailer. A close friend of the late actor, Anupam Kher acknowledged Satish Kaushik’s hard work behind the “passion project” as he wrote, “Dearest SATISH KAUSHIK! The trailer of your passion project and unfortunately the last project Kaagaz 2 is releasing tomorrow! I know how hard you worked to create this film. But we all will make sure that the brilliance of this film reaches the world! Love you always! As law-abiding citizens, let us follow what is written on official Kaagaz. A film based on true instances and in loving memory of dear Satish Kaushik ji, releasing in cinemas on 1st March!”

Directed by VK Prakash, Kaagaz 2 also stars Neena Gupta and Darshan Kumaar in important roles. Satish Kaushik died after suffering from a heart attack on his way to the hospital in Gurugram. His last on-screen appearance was in the yet-to-be-released film Emergency, headlined by Kangana Ranaut.
