Popular Korean thriller drama Gyeongseong Creature is set during the grim period of Spring 1945 and follows the tale of an entrepreneur and a sleuth who must battle for survival against a monster. After a much loved season one, the second season picks up the story in modern-day Seoul, 2024, where Yoon Chae Ok (Han So-hee), who survived Gyeongseong’s harrowing past, encounters Ho Jae, who has a striking resemblance to Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo-joon).
As the anticipation for the much-awaited season grows, Netflix Korea has released some new still showing Jang Ho Jae (Park Seo-joon), the vice president of Bugang Sangsa, a private agency that takes on any job for the right price. His uncanny resemblance to Jang Tae Sang, the head of Gyeongseong’s prestigious pawnshop Geumokdang, hints at a deeper, untold backstory.
From his detective-inspired style —complete with sunglasses and a leather jacket— to his intense pursuit of someone, Jang Ho Jae’s character hints at an action-packed plot. Park Seo-joon portrays Ho Jae with a fresh appeal, setting him apart from his portrayal of Tae Sang in the 1945 setting, further pulling viewers into the drama.
The stills of Yoon Chae Ok, who has remained ageless after consuming the Najin (a parasitic worm species), are equally impressive. Once a skilled tracker, Chae Ok now solves missing person cases under the alias Eun Je Bi. The images of her donning a black hood suggest a life spent suppressing the instincts awakened by the Najin, leaving fans to wonder what decisions lie ahead for her. Surrounded by enemies, her swift, almost superhuman agility promises gripping action scenes and Han So-hee’s performance as Chae Ok is expected to bring intensity to these moments, as reported by Soompi.
Check out the still here:
Lee Moo Saeng portrays Captain Kuroko, the leader of an elite group known as the Kurokos, who devises secret strategies within Jeonseung Pharmaceuticals’ lab.
According to Soompi, he’s cold, calculating and unflinching in his brutal approach, yet his commanding presence adds a layer of charisma to his leadership style. Captain Kuroko’s determination to achieve his aims by putting the dark secrets of Jeonseung Pharmaceuticals into action shapes much of the tension in the story.
Bae Hyeon Seong plays Seung Jo, a highly skilled member of the Kurokos. The stills show Seung Jo with a mix of menace and sorrow in his eyes, sparking curiosity about his past.
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 will premiere on September 27 on Netflix.
